Book 30 is done! I can't believe that in less than three months I've read 30 books. I can't believe that of those 30, I've enjoyed pretty much every one of them! So it's only fitting that book 30 is from my favourite discovery so far this year! Book 6 of the Flavia de Luce series.

There is something about these books that make them just so... brilliant. It's their charm, their wit and an altogether fantastic storyline, and this book is no exception. It picks up less than a week after the previous book, and the whole storyline takes place over the space of less than 48 hours. I won't go into the plotline on this one too much, as to do so would give away the big twist at the end of the previous book.

There is of course a murder, although it gets buried a bit in the rest of the story. I don't think it matters, it doesn't matter that Flavia isn't the one solving the murder, she does more than her fair share of murder solving throughout the course of the books.

I really enjoyed the introduction of some new characters, who helped reveal more of the de Luce family story, a never before mentioned aunt and cousin, a airman who possesses Flavia's mother, Harriet's aeroplane and Winston Churchill who makes a fleeting appearance! The de Luce family story is becoming more and more interesting as we go along!

There's some development in the relationship between Flavia, her two sisters as they share the same emotions throughout this story. There's a couple of small snipes, but nothing so far as the torture that they put each other through. They're maturing, and I hope that we will see them putting their heads together and working as a team in future books. It was nice to see a bit more involvement from their Father, who has been a bit of a bit player so far.

All in all, a great book, and I can't wait for the next book to arrive, to see what adventure Flavia is going to get up to!
